We are a Derby based Architectural practice specialising in home extensions in Derby, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. We work on projects ranging from single storey & double storey extensions to more complex refurbishment and conversions. Our services include initial design concept ideas through to Planning and Building Regulations sign off.
We help our clients create their dream homes through listening and using our expertise to come up with solutions that suit them. We don’t just produce drawings, but create virtual 3D models that clients can fully immerse themselves in to get a feel for what will probably be one of their biggest investments after buying a house, right for them before building work starts. Some of the problems encountered in the design process can’t be fully understood just on paper for people who struggle to visualise the outcome.
Visualing your design
At the start of each project Ian will talk to you about your requirements and ideas to understand what it is you want from your project. He’ll then sit down with you to form a brief and offer ideas about how the space can be used in different ways coming up with options for your project. He will also discuss the process from planning through to construction and make you aware of the stages and costs involved along the way.
We use 3D software throughout the design process as an effective communication tool with our clients. This enables you to fully visualise the design and walkthrough your extension and make any potential changes before any building work is started which can save time and money in the long run.

Planning and Scheme Design
Once we’ve sat down to discuss your proposals and formed a brief. We will provide you with options and a schedule for our services. Subject to our quotation being accepted, we will then carry out a survey of your property. Working together we’ll develop design proposals for your project in the form of sketch and CAD plans along with a 3D model.
DETAIL DESIGN & BUILDING REGULATIONS
Once plans have been approved, we’ll make a start on the Technical drawings. These drawings will be used by the builder for construction and it’s at this stage that we’ll consult and liaise with Structural Engineers to produce a full set of co-ordinated construction drawings. The drawings will then be submitted to Building Control for their approval.
